Epithelial Skin Antibody (INACTIVE as of 11/15/21: Refer to 3004007 in the November Hotline)
Use as general initial test for immunobullous diseases or to monitor epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA) and linear IgA disease antibody expression.
Components include Epithelial Basement Membrane Zone IgG Antibodies (0092056) and Epithelial Basement Membrane Zone IgA Antibodies (0092057) (diagnostic disease markers in pemphigoid, epidermolysis bullosa acquisita, linear IgA disease) and Epithelial Cell Surface Antibody IgG (0090266) and Pemphigus Antibody IgA (0092106) (diagnostic disease markers in IgG and IgA pemphigus subtypes); test does not include ELISAs for specific disease-related antigenic targets.
Consider ordering concurrently with Bullous Pemphigoid Antigens (180 kDa and 230 kDa), IgG (0092566) and Collagen Type VII Antibody IgG by ELISA (2010905) for suspected pemphigoid or EBA. Consider ordering with Desmoglein 1 and Desmoglein 3 Antibodies in Pemphigus, IgG (0090649) for suspected pemphigus. Consider ordering the Immunobullous Disease Panel, Epithelial (3001409), which includes IgG and IgA epithelial cell surface and basement membrane zone antibodies and IgG desmoglein 1 and 3, IgG BP180 and BP 230, and IgG collagen type VII antibodies.
For more sensitive and specific testing for pemphigoid and EBA or pemphigus, refer to Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Panel (3001410) or Pemphigus Antibody Panel - Epithelial Cell Surface Antibodies and Desmoglein 1 and Desmoglein 3 Antibodies, IgG (0090650).
