Ordering Recommendation
Use to assess and monitor positive IgG basement membrane zone antibodies, including epidermal (roof) pattern, dermal (floor) pattern, and combined on split skin substrate in patients with pemphigoid and epidermolysis bullosa acquisita (EBA), especially those with normal IgG BP 180, IgG BP 230, and IgG type VII collagen antibody levels.
Consider ordering concurrently with Epithelial Basement Membrane Zone Antibody IgA (0092057), Bullous Pemphigoid Antigens (180 kDa and 230 kDa), IgG (0092566), and/or Collagen Type VII Antibody IgG by ELISA (2010905); alternatively, order Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Panel (3001410) or Immunobullous Disease Panel, Epithelial (3001409), which includes this testing.
Decreased diagnostic sensitivity and specificity when testing for pemphigoid and EBA compared with Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Panel (3001410) or for pemphigoid compared with Pemphigoid Antibody Panel (0092001).
For initial pemphigoid or EBA diagnosis, Basement Membrane Zone Antibody Panel (3001410) or Immunobullous Disease Panel, Epithelial (3001409) is preferred.
