Ordering Recommendation

Determine if the Fy(a) (FY1) and Fy(b) (FY2) antigens are expressed on the patient's red blood cells. To determine if the patient is heterozygous or homozygous for the Fy(a) and Fy(b) antigens. In an otherwise healthy individual, this test is sufficient for evaluation of Duffy-null associated neutropenia. This test does not assess for mutation to the binding site of the erythroid-specific GATA1 transcription factor; if this is indicated, refer to Red Blood Cell Antigen Genotyping (3001053).
