Ordering Recommendation

Not recommend except in suspected cases of acquired von Willebrand disease (VWD) or high suspicion of VWD. Preferred initial test is von Willebrand Reflex Profile with reflex to von Willebrand Multimeric Analysis (3020170).

Specimen Preparation

Transfer 3 mL platelet-poor plasma to an ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 1.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

CRITCIAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Unacceptable Conditions

Serum, EDTA plasma, clotted or hemolyzed specimens.
