Ordering Recommendation
Reflex test to diagnose Lyme disease in symptomatic individuals. For use ≤4 weeks after symptom onset. Reflex pattern follows the standard two-tier testing (STTT) approach; a positive or equivocal screen is confirmed by immunoblot.
The preferred reflex test is Borrelia burgdorferi VlsE1/pepC10 Antibodies, Total by ELISA With Reflex to IgM and IgG by ELISA (Modified Two-Tier Testing) (3006053).

Serum separator tube.
Transfer 2 mL serum to an ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 0.15 mL)
Refrigerated.
Plasma, CSF. Contaminated, heat-inactivated, hemolyzed, icteric, or lipemic specimens.
After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated:10 days; Frozen: 1 month.
