Use to detect Salmonella, Shigella/Enteroinvasive Escherichia coli (EIEC), Campylobacter spp. (C.coli, C.jejuni) nucleic acids, and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli Stx1/Stx2 genes in stool samples from individuals with signs and/or symptoms of gastrointestinal infection.

Specimen Preparation

Transfer stool to enteric transport media (Cary-Blair) (ARUP supply #29799) available online through eSupply using ARUP Connect(TM) or contact ARUP Client Services at 800-522-2787. Refrigerate after transfer.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated

Unacceptable Conditions

Unpreserved stool, stool in media other than liquid Cary-Blair.
