CSF, plasma, urine, or other body fluids. Contaminated, hemolyzed, or severely lipemic specimens.

After separation from cells: Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 2 weeks; Frozen: 1 year (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)

Semi-Quantitative Indirect Fluorescent Antibody (IFA)/Semi-Quantitative Multiplex Bead Assay

2-5 days

Reference Interval

Test Number
Reference Interval
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Ab, IgG 19 AU/mL or less
Serine Proteinase 3 (PR3) Ab, IgG 19 AU/mL or less

Interpretive Data

Component Interpretation
Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Antibody 19 AU/mL or less  Negative
20-25 AU/mL  Equivocal
26 AU/mL or greater   Positive
Serine Proteinase 3 (PR3) Antibody 19 AU/mL or less  Negative
20-25 AU/mL  Equivocal
26 AU/mL or greater   Positive

Compliance Category

If MPO and/or PR3 results are equivocal or positive, then ANCA by IFA will be added. Additional changes apply. Specimens are screened by IFA on ethanol-fixed neutrophils, formalin-fixed neutrophils, and HEp-2 slides that allow differentiation of C- and P-ANCA patterns.
