Ordering Recommendation
Intended for use in patients with an undetectable viral load. HIV-1 phenotyping test to determine the tropism (ie, CCR5 or CXCR4) of the virus in patients being considered for CCR5 antagonist therapy.

This test is New York state approved.
Specimen Required
Patient Preparation
Collect
Lavender (K2 or K3EDTA).
Specimen Preparation
Freeze immediately. Transport 4 mL whole blood in the original collection tube. (Min: 4 mL)
Test is not performed at ARUP; separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
Storage/Transport Temperature
CRITICAL FROZEN.
Unacceptable Conditions
Thawed specimens.
