HIV-1 genotyping provides antiretroviral susceptibility information for protease inhibitors (PI), reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTI, NNRTI), and integrase inhibitors (INI). Preferred test is HIV1 Genotype and Integrase Inhibitor Resistance by Sequencing (2009256).

Patient Preparation
Collect

Lavender (EDTA) or Plasma Preparation Tube (PPT).

Specimen Preparation

Separate from cells within 6 hours of collection. Transfer 5 mL plasma to ARUP Standard Transport Tubes and freeze immediately. (Min: 3 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.
