Patient should not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum for 30 minutes before collecting oral sample.

Buccal swab.

Specimen Preparation

Transfer buccal swab to viral transport media (ARUP supply #12884) available online through eSupply using ARUP Connect™ or contact ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Frozen.

Unacceptable Conditions

Urine. Nasopharyngeal swab.
