Use as a sensitive alternative to traditional stool culture to detect the most common gastrointestinal bacterial pathogens: Salmonella, Shigella/Enteroinvasive E. coli, Campylobacter jejuni/coli, and shiga-toxigenic E. coli. This test can also detect Campylobacter upsaliensis, which cannot be readily cultured.

Unpreserved Stool: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 2 months
Stool in Transport Media: Ambient: 1 hour; Refrigerated: 3 days; Frozen: Unacceptable
A negative result does not rule out the presence of PCR inhibitors in the patient specimen or test-specific nucleic acid in concentrations below the level of detection by this test.
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. It has not been cleared or approved by the US Food and Drug Administration. This test was performed in a CLIA certified laboratory and is intended for clinical purposes.
