Preferred reflex test for screening and confirming HCV in at-risk individuals. If positive, reflexes to quantitative HCV NAAT to confirm HCV infection.

Specimen Required
Serum Separator Tube (SST). Also acceptable: Lavender (EDTA) or Pink (K2EDTA).
Separate from cells within 6 hours of collection. Transfer 2.5 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 1.5 mL)
Frozen.
Specimens containing particulate material. Severely hemolyzed, heat-inactivated, or lipemic specimens. Heparinized plasma.
After separation from cells: Ambient: Unacceptable; Refrigerated: 5 days; Frozen: 2 months (avoid freeze/thaw cycles)
