Patient Preparation
Patient should fast overnight prior to collection.
Collect
Plain red or serum separator tube.
Specimen Preparation
Transfer 0.5 mL serum to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.1 mL)
Storage/Transport Temperature
Refrigerated.
Unacceptable Conditions
Specimens from non-fasting patients. Specimens not separated from the red cells. Lipemic specimens.
Remarks
Stability
After separation from cells: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 1 month
