Specimen Preparation

Centrifuge and separate to remove cellular material. Transfer 1 mL body fluid to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.35 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Contaminated or grossly hemolyzed specimens. Needle sent with specimen.

Stability

After separation from cellular material: Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: 8 days; Frozen: 1 month (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
