Drain, pericardial, peritoneal/ascites, or pleural fluid.

Specimen Preparation

Centrifuge to remove cellular material.  Transfer 1 mL body fluid to an ARUP standard transport tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimen types other than those listed. Specimens too viscous to be aspirated by instrument.

Remarks

Specimen source must be provided.

Stability

Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 3 months
