Evaluate for kidney dysfunction in patients with known risk factors (eg, hypertension, diabetes, obesity, family history of kidney disease). Panel includes albumin, calcium, carbon dioxide, creatinine, chloride, glucose, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, and BUN and a calculated anion gap value.

Patient Preparation
Collect

Plasma separator tube or serum separator tube.

Specimen Preparation

Allow serum tube to clot completely at room temperature. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.4 mL)

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimens collected in citrate, EDTA, or oxalate.

After separation from cells: Ambient:  4 hours; Refrigerated: 4 days; Frozen: 6 months
