Assess B-cell subsets in immunodeficiencies, such as common variable immunodeficiency or B-cell reconstitution after bone marrow or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Not recommended for Rituximab monitoring, refer to B-Cell CD20 Expression (0092099).

Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (sodium or lithium heparin).  
Specimen Preparation
Transport 4 mL whole blood. (Min: 0.5 mL)  
Storage/Transport Temperature
Room temperature. Also acceptable: Refrigerated.  
Unacceptable Conditions
Specimens older than 48 hours. Clotted or hemolyzed specimens.  
Specimens must be analyzed within 48 hours of collection.  
Ambient: 48 hours; Refrigerated: 48 hours; Frozen: Unacceptable

Interpretive Data
This test measures B-cells (CD19+), total memory B-cells (CD19+ CD27+), class switched memory B-cells (CD19+ CD27+ IgD-), non-switched/marginal zone memory B-cells (CD19+ CD27+ IgD+), and naive B-cells (CD19+ CD27-IgD+). This test is indicated for patients with suspected immune deficiencies, especially Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), and to assess reconstitution of B-cell subsets after bone marrow or stem cell transplant.

This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by ARUP Laboratories. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved or cleared this test; however, FDA clearance or approval is not currently required for clinical use.
