For evaluating coagulopathies (eg, disseminated intravascular coagulation), D-Dimer (0030057) is the preferred test. If FDP testing is being considered, this plasma test, rather than the serum test,  is the recommended test.

Lt. blue (sodium citrate).  
Specimen Preparation
Transfer 1 mL platelet-poor plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)  
Storage/Transport Temperature
CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.  
Unacceptable Conditions
Serum. EDTA plasma or Hemolyzed specimens.

Ambient: 8 hours; Refrigerated: Unacceptable; Frozen: 1 month at -20°C, 1 year at -70°C.
