Transfer 1 mL CSF to a sterile ARUP Standard Transport Tube (ARUP supply # 43115). Available online through eSupply using ARUP Connect™ or contact Client Services at (800) 522-2787. (Min: 0.5 mL)

Interpretive Data
The stains will detect free-living amoeba such as Acanthamoeba species, Naegleria fowleri, and Balamuthia mandrillaris.

The culture will detect free-living amoeba such as Acanthamoeba species and Naegleria fowleri, but will NOT detect Balamuthia mandrillaris.
