Patient Preparation
 
Collect
Serum separator tube, pink (K2EDTA), green (lithium heparin), or lt. blue (sodium citrate).  
Specimen Preparation
Separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP. Transfer 0.5 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL)  
Storage/Transport Temperature
Frozen. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.  
Unacceptable Conditions
Specimens collected in potassium oxalate or sodium fluoride. Grossly hemolyzed specimens.

After separation from cells: Ambient: 4 hours; Refrigerated: 24 hours; Frozen: 1 year
