Patient Preparation
  
Collect
Lavender (EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or serum separator tube. OR amniotic fluid, CSF, tissue, or synovial fluid.  
Specimen Preparation
Separate serum or plasma from cells. Transfer 1 mL serum, plasma, amniotic fluid, CSF, or synovial fluid to a sterile container. (Min: 0.5 mL)
Tissue:
Transfer to a sterile container and freeze immediately. Also acceptable: Formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissue.  
Storage/Transport Temperature
Paraffin Embedded Tissue: Room temperature. Transport in a Tissue Transport Kit (ARUP supply #47808), available online through eSupply using ARUP Connect ™ or contact
ARUP Client Services at (800) 522-2787.All others: Frozen.  
Unacceptable Conditions
Bone marrow (refer to Parvovirus B19, by PCR, Bone Marrow (ARUP test code 0060028). Heparinized specimens.

Paraffin Embedded Tissue:
