Patient Preparation
First morning specimen preferred. Instruct patient to perform a clean catch collection. 
Collect
Clean Catch first morning or random urine. 
Specimen Preparation
Transport 10 mL sterile aliquot from a well-mixed random urine. (Min: 3 mL) 
Storage/Transport Temperature
Refrigerated.

Remarks
Urine culture will be ordered if WBC's are greater than 5 cells /hpf. If urine sample is collected in a cup, aliquot specimen into 2 tubes: One yellow top tube and one Gray top (boric acid) tube for the culture.
