Specimen Required

Patient Preparation
Collect

Green (sodium or lithium heparin) or plasma separator tube (PST).

Specimen Preparation

Protect from light during storage and shipment. Separate plasma from cells within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 1 mL plasma to an ARUP amber transport tube. (Min: 0.5 mL) Separate light-protected specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Serum, whole blood, or body fluids. EDTA preserved tubes. Lipemic specimens.
