Specimen Required

Patient Preparation
Collect

Serum separator tube, lavender (K2EDTA), pink (K2EDTA), or green (lithium heparin).

Specimen Preparation

Allow serum tube to sit for 15-20 minutes at room temperature for proper clot formation. Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL serum or plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube.(Min: 0.5 mL)

Frozen.

Unacceptable Conditions

Specimens collected in containers other than specified above.

After separation from cells: Ambient: 3 days; Refrigerated: 6 days; Frozen: 2 years
