Specimen Required

Patient Preparation
Collect

24-hour urine. Specimen must be refrigerated during collection. AND plasma separator tube (PST) or serum separator tube (SST), collected within 24 hours prior to the beginning of the 24- hour urine collection or within 24 hours after the urine collection is completed.

Specimen Preparation

Transfer one 3 mL aliquot from a well-mixed 24-hour urine collection AND 1 mL serum or plasma to individual ARUP standard transport tubes (Min: 0.5 mL urine and 0.2 mL serum or plasma.

Storage/Transport Temperature

Refrigerated.

Unacceptable Conditions

Random urine collections.

Remarks

Record total volume and collection time interval on transport tube and test request form.

Stability

Ambient: 1 week; Refrigerated: 1 week; Frozen: 3 months
